Quick Pic Update

Late September haul from our garden plot. I think we got
18 pie pumpkins and at least six monster zucchini

If the weekends are nice we are almost
always checking out a new trail around home

I have been off the steroids for a couple of months and the
puff is starting to go away. The more I exercise the stronger
I get and eventually all the excess weight will start to
go. It's been a physically tough year but I'm starting
to see the other side.

The boys are still picking tomatoes and kale
from our backyard gardens

Kate was having a tough day (no particular reason other than
four year old stuff) so asked if we could make donuts,
how could you not smile

Peppers, cucamelons and tomatoes. One of
the rare times anything actually made it
into the house, it usually gets eaten by the kids

Rob and I did a 7km hike one morning after dropping the
kids at school. So pretty

One very massive watermelon radish, yes,
it tasted really great still. It's a beautiful
pink/red inside

We all play in the park after school
most days as the kids are pretty restricted
with play during school

Today's hike in Palgrave

4km of very pretty trail

Happy Birthday

Monday was Kate's 4th birthday so we had family over on the weekend to celebrate and she got to celebrate again n the monday at school and at home. She has been looking forward to attending school for over a year now and to be able to celebrate her birthday at the same time is pretty exciting.

I was so busy running around I missed taking pictures but here are a few.

First day of school for these two,
Owen in grade 3 and Kate in JK

You can tell Fall is coming, cooler mornings and
the sun is slower to rise in the morning

Kate was really great about wearing her mask
no issues with either kid about following
to new safety guidelines so far

A doll for Kate's birthday, I'm pretty excited to start
making clothes for it!

August Update

August was a busy month here, it seemed to fly by.

Early morning laughs after Kate figured
out how to lock the back door

Early August and our garden was looking
quite happy

My brother turned 40!!! Woah

Kate went to work with Rob for the day so Owen and I
spent the day in Toronto

This cutie requested a sushi date and
I was so happy to oblige

Of course he had to try the wasabi
by itself, hahahaha

The following week it was Owen's turn
to work and Kate requested pizza date. She
was sure to get all dressed up for our day out

We did a family day at the Elmvale zoo

I love how close and interactive the zoo is

There was no petting area this year but
these guys were quite friendly. We all had
a lot of fun at the zoo

We were away at my parents for a few days so the garden
was unattended for 5 or 6 days. This is what I came
home with, that zucchini weighed in at 6.6lbs

An Update of the Past Month

We had a backyard playdate with some
neighbours whom happen to be very
similar in age to Owen and Kate.

The last weekend in June we did a family bike in Albion
Hills as they had recently opened again

Of course we had to stop for ice cream on the
home from such a great ride

It was getting hotter so watermelon and
time in the sprinkler were in order

We had such a great time last weekend that we went again,
this time a great hike and tailgate picnic

The parking lot was empty so a perfect opportunity
for a driving lesson

We got a bit creative with Kates bedroom door, the kids
painted and stamped her door with a bunch of sampler
pots of paint that were leftover from painting her room
a couple of years ago

The finished masterpiece

Dinner after a fun day of creativity

Whenever possible, I try to keep up stock with
product for my shop. It should be easier once
the kids are back in school

The kids went up to my parents for a week so there was
a lot of this happening. Mmmm, silence!

I drove up and joined everyone for some fun for a
couple of days. We had a great time

I even managed to get a bit of work in, a custom order
ready for shipping.

Good times

Masks are now mandatory for everyone
so I made some for the kids

We had a quick visit with Sean, Maggie and Frankie. The
kids loved her

We even managed a very fun run
through the local splash pad. It was
raining so we had the park to ourselves

Garden Update

It's been a month since we planted our vegi garden at home and it's looking pretty good so far.

Going from left to right, four varieties of tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, basil, dinosaur and curly kale, asparagus, celery, romaine lettuce, beets, mixed greens and along the back a row of turnips.

Our pots are doing ok as well.

Productive Weekend in the Garden

Last weekend we made this garden bed for our backyard,
cardboard is down as the first layer to smother the grass

It was then filled with dead branches, dried grass clippings
and random buckets of dirt from last years flower containers

This weekend the boys went and picked up a yard of compost
which we filled up the bed with. We got in beets,
carrots, tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, lettuce and a row
of beans so far. I'm hoping to finish planting it out tomorrow

The remainder of the compost was then brought out our
community plot and I did a bit of planting as well

Eight circles of Strawberry popping corn, each circle has
about a dozen seed which I will then plant beans or peas
beside the corn stalks and then pumpkins/squash
amongst the open spaces

Our garlic looking happy

I transplanted 17 tomato plants as well as a small
square of cosmos. We have 400 sq ft so I figured some
flowers this year were in order
